London Destash Fabric Swap

London fabric swap at Craft Central Docklands

Thanks for coming!

Thank you for coming along to the fabric swap and making it a blast! A swap only works with lots of participants donating their fabric and haberdashery supplies, so it was great to see 200 of you come along on Saturday. Thank you for your generosity and bringing such amazing fabric and haberdashery. We hope you went home with a good stash of stuff. Please share with us if you did, we’d love to see what you picked up and what you are going to make with it. We love Beautiful Things Vlog from the day, did she pick up one of your pieces? Thank you for all your stories and posts from the day. Please let us know if you would like us to share the link to your vlog or video. Don’t forget our Instagram competition for your swap makes, more details below.

Head over to our Instagram Pages for more photos and videos of the day

Thanks to Yvette from Stash Hub for hosting the swap with me and making the organisation fun. The Stash Hub app will help you organise your new bundle of fabrics and sewing supplies to help you achieve your sewing goals. Scroll down for more information about Stash Hub.

Join our challenge on Instagram for some motivation to finish and share you projects using supplies from the London Destash Fabric Swap. You don’t have to sew a garment – use your supplies in any creative way. Post a photo showcasing your creation to Instagram and tag hosts @oliveroadlondon and @Stash_hub with #LondonFabricSwap24 so we can see what you’ve made. We’re going to pick winners on 24 August, giving you six months to get creative with your swap finds. Prizes include a £50 voucher from Olive Road London and a 1 year free subscription to Stash Hub Plus. Find the full information here.

If you are not on Instagram then please email photos of your makes to sarah@oliveroad.london

Thanks to Craft Central for the use of their beautiful gallery. They have lots of events on throughout the year, find out more on their website.

About Olive Road

Welcome to Olive Road London, an online fabric shop created by me, Sarah Richards, focusing on vintage fabrics. My shop is named after the street my Grandparents lived on for 60 years. Vintage is a fun way to recycle, giving a new lease of life to unique fabrics. I am passionate about reusing these beautiful textiles, preserving their history. Preventing them from reaching landfill and adding to the global textile waste issue. I created Olive Road London as an outlet to refresh, repair and reuse pre-loved fabrics. It was why I wanted to organise a fabric swap. All of us prevented a huge amount of fabric and supplies from being sent to landfill on Saturday, which is amazing!

Sign up to my newsletter for more sustainable sewing news and vintage fabric releases. I’m running a competition to win a pair of tickets to the Stitch Festival for March 2024. Subscribe to the newsletter to be automatically entered into the competition. Winner announced on the 1 March 2024. You need to be a subscriber on this date to be entered but can subscribe at any time.
