Craft Central: Thanks for the memories

Last week I locked the door to my studio at Craft Central for the last time. With a heavy heart it was time to say goodbye to a fun couple of years. Thanks to Craft Central for supporting two fabric swaps and the Sew Sustainable Fair. The team office never moaned when I spread out into the corridor with my fabrics and ironing board. My studio neighbours have be come friends and we will miss working alongside each other. Thank you to everyone who supported my relocation sale last month. I can’t begin to tell you how helpful it was that you all bought lots of fabric! It meant I had less to move to my storage place and gives me a bit more space for the new arrivals of vintage fabric.

Last month I received sad news that Craft Central was closing down. I rented a small studio in a beautiful grade II listed building on the Isle of Dogs, London. The charity has been running since the 1970s and called The Forge, in London’s Docklands, it’s home since 2017. I’ve been there since 2021 and loved every minute of it. I’ve made so many friends at Craft Central and I’m very sad to say goodbye. A place where I always felt welcome and a pleasure to run my business from.

We only had a short time to move out as the charity went into liquidation. So I’ve moved my fabric into a temporary storage space until I can work out what is next. For the time being my kitchen top will become my fabric cutting table and the ironing board is the perfect height for packing orders.

Thank you for all the kind messages and support. It has really meant a lot.

Thanks to Ben Veasey for all the photos.
