Soft to touch, these vintage fabrics bring a cosy vibe to winter sewing. Their surfaces are very slightly brushed creating a warm material to take us through to Spring. Each fabric has a burst of colour to brighten up our makes. Being vintage, I can’t guarantee their fibre content. They are estimated to be cotton based on a burn test, plus their look and drape.
Sewing Inspiration
150cm square, this bold red design from Rose and Hubble London Collection has just enough to create a pair of shorts using the Maven Simone Set. Possibly with enough scraps left to make a cami top from the set too. Priced at £25, this fabric has a slightly stiff drape as it is the heavier of the collection. Lovely and warm for a cosy lounge or pyjama set.
With a gorgeous soft drape, this brushed cotton works perfectly with the Winter in London trouser pattern from Seasons of East. Wide legged trousers with a flattering pleats at the front and a concealed zip at the side. Team with a black jumper to champion the bold print of the trouser fabric. I also have a longer length of the same vintage fabric, enough for the Maven Simone Set.
I also have two pieces of this dark floral vintage fabric. Both pieces added together are plenty to make the pretty Autumn in London shirt dress. The soft drape suits the gentle folds on the short sleeves of the dress. It is ankle length but can be shortened to the calf or the knee.

With it’s 1960s print, this jewel like brushed fabric suits the vintage style of the Maven Kitty dress. Soft enough to be comfortable on the 3/4 sleeves but with enough weight in the fabric to hold the block shape of the dress and round collar. Perfect for a vintage style using a modern pattern. This Fabric is sold out but the pattern is still available.
