Pattern and fabric inspiration to make a quick festive outfit
The party season has arrived bringing with it a panic of having nothing festive to wear! There is still plenty of time to whip up a quick top to wear with jeans. Or my favourite look, shorts and a thick pair of tights. I’ve pulled together my favourite top patterns from independent pattern companies, along with some vintage fabric suggestions. If there is a bit of extra time to make a dress, then the new Tilbury dress from Now and Then Patterns is loose on the waist to make room for a few canapes. I bought Maven Pattern’s Simone Set. The perfect for sofa -to-dining-table Christmas day outfit without actually being in my pyjamas.

Buying a pattern for a top isn’t always necessary. Use the top part of a dress pattern to create a top. The photo on the left is from Seasons of East who have created a blouse from their Autumn in London dress using vintage fabric from my shop. Full pattern hack instructions on their blog (for free).
I lengthened the top section of the Sew Over It Poppy jumpsuit to create this top from a scarf I found in a charity shop. I kept the frayed edge on the bottom hem of the top.
