East London Vintage Flea, 26 February 2023, Mile End, London

26 Feb 2023
10:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Art Pavilion
Mile End Park, Grove Road
London
E3 4QY

Doing away with expensive replicas and focusing on quality and affordability, the Flea provides an antidote; a celebration of mid-century living from the 50s and beyond, the event offers up TOP vintage traders, all offering furniture and homewares without costing the earth. With traders coming from all over the UK, expect to see the eclectic chairs, tables and more by giants like Ercol and G-Plan, barware and kitchenalia, textiles and fabrics, sewing machines, cameras, record players and radios, cocktail glasses and figurines, posters and magazines, lampshades, mirrors and more – from toys to telephones, ceramics to lighting, no box is left unticked.

This is an introductory workshop for beginner and intermediate sewists teaching you how to personalise your makes with monogrammed applique. This includes learning basic embroidery stitches. You can bring along an item to personalise or create hoop art in hoops supplied along with a monogram template kit. Applique is a great way to use up small pieces of fabric. Suitable for all abilities, the workshop lasts 1 hour and costs £19. Workshop price includes a kit worth £15.

Learn to make a zippered pouch (from vintage fabric)

This workshop combines the key elements of following a pattern, constructing an item using a sewing machine including inserting a zip. Everything is provided for you to leave the workshop with a zipper pouch made from vintage fabric. Using vintage fabric is a fun way to be sustainable by using pre-loved fabrics that would otherwise end up in landfill and a great way to use up small scraps of fabric. Suitable for beginners to intermediate (those who have used a sewing machine before). The workshop lasts for 1 hour and costs £20. Workshop price includes a kit worth £12.
